Things that were, but longer are.

A list of thing we used to enjoy, or found interesting, but have been taken away from us.

  • MOVE. <MILL>
NO LONGER A THING Not your usual movement studio, you will find classes and studios like Jedi training, hula hooping, poi, Ukemi, handstands, acrobatics, flow arts and partner conditioning.
  • Erbsville Kartway
Our local go-kart track, closed October 2021 in favour of more suburbs.
  • Ultimate Escape
  • Flag Raiders Paintball (Outdoor)
Don’t let the small bit you can see from the road fool you. There’s plenty of varied scenarios and terrain to pelt others with paint. Bring your best frenemies and ping ‘em off! Apparently ran into some zoning problems, and currently doesn't exist, but is rather looking for a home. Ask us how we think zoning is possibly the #1 contributor to problems in this world.
  • Aroma Cafe Erb/Caroline
Sorry, this one is gone due to redevelopment
Better breakfast croissants. Seating limited around the atrium; but a tasty way to enjoy reading your morning newspaper. Get it before this block gets redeveloped to enjoy the eclectic building that houses it.
  • Queen Street Commons Games Downtown
This place has not OPENED since March 2020, but THE LOCATION IS still there, so we're confused.
As taken from their website: “We invite people to enjoy our affordable, vegetarian home-style meals, snacks, desserts, and fresh-roasted coffee. Prices are set low because we have created a space where people can come together on equal footing. By offering food that is affordable, by not requiring that people make a purchase to be in the space, we have a café where all are welcome, no matter their income. The Café is also a place that provides opportunities for music, gathering, movie nights and conversation.” They have board games. They have a stage. They have good food. They have a gift shop and a bookshop. And now, they have another location...
  • Fresh Ground Cafe Cafe Downtown
The junior sized version of QSC, without all the amenities, but still serving up good food & drink.
  • ACE Ping-Pong
Three tables to battle your crew. Drink and appetizers also available.
  • K/W Symphony Divided people icon
  • Underground Flavour Group Downtown
THIS SEEMS TO BE GONE. Formerly a tapa place, it became a ghost kitchen, now it's a home to popups. Like a reverse foodtruck. Check out thier calendar to see what's cooking. Yes, you can get takeaway, but that loses the ambiance; they also have pop-up retail featureing local crafts and plants and whatever. Also, they particiapte HelloEkko, a reusable container program.
  • Walper Hotel Donuts
The hotel & restaurant still exist, but the donuts on fridays don't seem to. On Friday mornings, get to the Barrister’s Lounge before 10 a.m. for in-house made fancy doughnuts.
  • Manon Bakery Spadina/Highland [MILL]
This can fit in the dessert section, too, as they offer the famous Korean Bingsu shaved ice treat. Grab a tray & tongs, and go through the shop, picking what you want to chow down on. (untested: the drinks & sandwiches, along with the array of cakes).
  • No Udder Galt (Cambridge)
    A series of dairy-free ice-creams.
  • Zero Waste Bulk Uptown Waterloo, on King
Bring your own containers and pick out all the things you need for your pantry / larder. Theoretically lower waste, a fun shopping experience.
  • Izna Donburi
More for bowls & noodles than sushi, the ambiance is delightful, but can be quite busy. Downtown, just up from the market.
